Esmarch Wound Bandage

In his day, Johannes Friedrich August Von Esmarch (1823-1908), was a leading authority on gunshot wounds. In addition to other significant contrubutions to trauma medicine, Esmarch developed these illustrated triangular bandages intended to be on the spot medical resources for the untrained. These bandages were well received and used extensively. For many years triangular bandages, whether illustrated or not, were know as Esmarch bandages. Now, asking for an Esmarch bandage at the drug store, will probably only draw blank looks from the clerk. How fleeting is fame!
